India crowned champions in thrilling World Cup final

Team India emerged victorious over Australia in the nail-biting final of the World Cup 2023, held at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on November 19, 2023.

Chasing a modest target of 195, India rode on the back of a solid opening partnership and a crucial half-century from their captain to seal a famous victory.

The Indian bowlers had earlier restricted the formidable Australian batting lineup to 194 runs, with their spin trio of Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravindra Jadeja sharing seven wickets between them. The Indian batsmen then made a composed start, with openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul putting on a century stand to lay the foundation for the chase.

Captain Virat Kohli then took center stage, anchoring the Indian innings with a measured 54 off 73 balls. His departure in the 38th over raised some eyebrows, but Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya ensured there were no further hiccups as India crossed the line with 19 balls to spare.

The victory marks India's third World Cup title and their first since 2011. It is also a fitting tribute to the legendary MS Dhoni, who announced his retirement from international cricket after the tournament.
